Sports Betting Louisiana » Pelicans at Nets NBA Matchup

As the NBA Season opens, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets will host Brandon Ingram and the New Orleans Pelicans at the Barclays Center. The Nets are favored by the oddsmakers, but not by far against the Pelicans.

Both of the squads are heading to the new season with hopes to bring the first NBA championship for their franchise. Both of them also lost in the first round last season, however, it resulted in different opinions.

The Nets had a disappointing exit after being dominated by Jason Tatum and the Celtics squad while the Pelicans lost to the Chris Paul-led Phoenix Suns.

Pelicans Visit the Nets for their NBA Opening Game

The Nets will be waiting for the Pelicans for their opening matchup this season. The Pelicans are looking to break their losing streak against the Nets as the Brooklyn team won each of their last seven meetings. For this to happen, their young core has to come up big with the veteran team.

New Orleans has been rebuilding their roster since letting go of Anthony Davis and the management has done a good job collecting pieces like Brandon Ingram, Jose Alvarado, and Jonas Valančiūnas. They also got the explosive Number 1 overall pick of the 2019 draft class, Zion Williamson. However, injuries have been the main issue for the 6′6″ power forward from Duke. He already made a comeback in the preseason but experienced health issues again and is still doubtful in the upcoming game.

Moreover, the team recently got the veteran shooter from the Portland Trailblazers, CJ McCollum, who will not just be a boost for their offensive firepower but can also lead the team in terms of experience.

On the other hand, the home team’s roster is full of veteran players and reliable scorers. The two-time NBA Champion and NBA finals MVP, KD, will lead the Nets together with another NBA champion, Uncle Drew.

In addition, the team will also have a reliable defense and great floor general with the presence of the former number 1 overall pick and rookie of the year – Ben Simmons. Simmons’ issues in scoring may not be a problem in this team as they are jam-packed with great shooters and finishers.

The Nets also have reliable shooters like Patty Mills, Seth Curry, and Tobias Harris. However, Curry and Harris will not be available in their opening game due to injuries. This means that the nets will primarily rely on Mills as their support in terms of scoring and spreading the floor.

For the Pelicans to win this matchup, the young core has to step up and bring their game to the next level, especially on defense. Meanwhile, Brooklyn may capitalize on the lack of experience of the Pelicans and defend their home court.
