Louisiana is set to get a new sportsbook in early 2023, as Betway prepares to launch mobile sports betting in the state. The company has not released many details about the launch yet, but it is expected that Betway will be one of the first companies to offer mobile sports betting in Louisiana.

New Louisiana Sportsbooks

The future of sports betting in Louisiana is looking to be more competitive with the upcoming launch of Betway, the UK-based betting company that recently made its presence known across the US. In its recent Q3 earnings call, Betway announced its plans to offer mobile LA sports betting in the first quarter of 2023.

As per the presentation, “Super Group intends to expand only into states that will provide opportunities for long-term growth and profitability.”

The popular provider is currently live in seven US states and has access to another 12. It will also be one of the sportsbooks to launch in the Ohio sports betting launch early next year.

They are well on their way to becoming Louisiana’s ninth mobile sportsbook. With Betway in the mix, not only will consumers have more options, but it will likely fuel competition and result in a better customer experience all around.

Growing Louisiana Sports Betting Market

Louisiana has experienced the surge of legal sports betting firsthand with the launch of retail sportsbooks on October 31, 2021. This milestone enabled Louisiana residents to place bets across several of the state’s locations after a lengthy legislative and regulatory process.

Louisiana mobile sports betting was also made available in late January 2022 with six different operator sites going live:

  1. Barstool Sportsbook
  2. BetRivers Sportsbook
  3. BetMGM
  4. Caesars Sportsbook
  5. DraftKings Sportsbook
  6. FanDuel Sportsbook

The venture has allowed fans to easily manage their bankrolls and check real-time odds whenever they wish. With this convenient option, fans in the state are looking forward to an increased ability to bet on their favorite teams while capitalizing on ever-changing lines.

Louisiana Sports Betting Last October

Louisiana sportsbooks experienced a record-breaking October, with a handle – the total amount of money bet on sporting events – of $255.5 million. This shattered the previous record of $238.4 million set in February and came as no surprise to industry experts and consultants like Johns, who predicted an influx of betting opportunities spurred by mobile wagering for the upcoming NFL season.
